The 15th annual Award and Induction Dinner of The National Academy of Popular Music/Songwriters Hall of Fame was held in New York City in 1984.
This year's nine inductees were Richard Adler, Bennie Benjamin, Neil Diamond, Norman Gimbel, Al Hoffman, Henry Mancini, Maceo Pinkard, Billy Strayhorn and George David Weiss. Benny Goodman was presented with the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award.
