The 14th annual Award and Induction Dinner of The National Academy of Popular Music/Songwriters Hall of Fame was held in New York City in 1983.

This year's eleven inductees included Alec Wilder, Stevie Wonder and Ervin Drake.  Sammy Cahn received the Johnny Mercer Award, Howard S. Richmond Richmond was presented with the Abe Olman Publisher Award, Willie Nelson was given the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award, and Margaret Whiting and Rosemary Clooney were co-recipients of the Hitmaker award.
