The 11th annual Award and Induction Dinner of The National Academy of Popular Music/Songwriters Hall of Fame was held in New York City in 1980.
This year's inductees were Alan and Marilyn Bergman, Betty Comden, Adolph Green and Herb Magidson, and Ethel Merman was presented with the first-ever Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award.
