Randy Class (BMI)

Abe Olman Scholarship, 2018

Randy’s love for music came simply from listening to his mother’s radio in their apartment while he was growing up. Simultaneously finding warmth and solace in singing and writing, he was able to pen his thoughts, originally as poems, which is where he discovered his immense passion for songwriting. Upon learning at a young age that the artist who performs the song isn't necessarily the person that writes the song, Randy began to look at the creative process in a different light and wanted to know more about the men and women that penned his favorite music. Songwriters and producers like Terrace Martin, Mario Domm (Camila), Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Teddy Riley, Romeo Santos (Aventura), Benny Blanco, and Max Martin have helped navigate Randy on his musical path. Randy pushes himself as a creative on a daily basis so that one day he can be held in the same regard and be able to touch the world with the stroke of a pen. Elements of what has shaped and continues to inspire Randy’s creative train of thought are dually represented with his ability to sing and write in Spanish as well as English. From Merengue and Bachata, to Soul and R&B, the mixture of these ingredients has defined the texture of his creative palette. Randy jaywalks on a myriad of musical influences; pop driven melodies, paired with substantive lyrics, fueled by elements of Spanish soul allow Randy to fully immerse his fans into his classic, timeless lyricism and sound.
