Hailey Knox (BMI)

Abe Olman Scholarship, 2015

New York born singer/songwriter Hailey Knox is not your typical sixteen year old high-schooler. With a stunning, soulfully evocative voice that recalls Donnie Hathaway as much as Beyoncé or Rhianna, plus her infectious rhythmic guitar playing and loop pedaling, it’s no wonder Hailey’s inventive YouTube cover performances have already got major labels, publishers, The Voice (she turned them down!), and stars like Meghan Trainor - who tweeted at Hailey that she’s her “biggest fan” - swooning. She is currently in the studio working and writing with multiplatinum songwriters / producers Peter Zizzo (Avril Lavigne, Jason Mraz) and Mike Mangini (Joss Stone, Diane Burch), as well as additional cowriters Imani Coppola, and AJR’s Ryan Met, with more to come. Her creative prowess has exploded over just the past six months, her natural melodic sensibility finding its way into a unique songwriting process, creating a sound that is at once organically classic, yet contemporary. Songs like “Skipping Stones”, “Bitch Bitch Bitch” and “Satellites” are just a few of the originals that caught the ears and ignited the passion in legendary exec Steve Greenberg, and as of this writing Hailey is entering into a recording agreement with his S-Curve Records, with a debut release expected by early next year. Things are indeed moving fast, and the world will soon be hearing from this extraordinary young talent! Hail yeah!!!
