Daphne Browdy (SESAC)

Abe Olman Scholarship, 2025

Daphne Browdy makes music for people who feel too much and say too little. Her voice—both literal and lyrical—is shaped by a lifelong drive to turn lived experience into meaningful art. Based in Nashville, she is a multifaceted songwriter, producer, and artist known for her deeply personal lyricism, genre-blurring versatility, and commitment to honest storytelling. Her work spans pop, indie, rock, country, and R&B—unified by unforgettable melodies and emotionally grounded narratives.

As an artist, Daphne has released music to a growing and devoted fanbase drawn to her raw vulnerability and poetic candor. Her debut EP, Ten Different Homes, explores themes of survival, identity, and the search for belonging—one of its songs was recently featured on Teen Mom, marking her first major sync placement. In addition to her solo work, she fronts the grunge-shoegaze band Doom Mutual, blending the brooding intensity of Nirvana and Deftones with haunting harmonies and cathartic songwriting. The band has surpassed 1.3 million streams on Spotify and has amassed a cult following in the alternative scene.

Daphne’s recent co-writing credits include collaborations with Bruno Major, Ron Fair, and Dylan Brady, among others. Her songwriting has drawn acclaim for its emotional depth and authenticity, earning recognition from the ASCAP Foundation, a Top 10 placement in the American Songwriter contest, and the BMI John Lennon Songwriting Award.

Whether writing for herself, producing for others, or building walls of sound with Doom Mutual, Daphne Browdy continues to carve out a space for honest, emotionally resonant, genre-defiant music — giving voice to what others leave unspoken.
