Bio

Walter Afanasieff is an acclaimed American songwriter, producer, and composer best known for shaping some of the most iconic pop music of the late 20th century. A longtime collaborator of Mariah Carey, he co-wrote and produced many of her biggest hits, including “Hero,” “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” “My All,” and “One Sweet Day,” helping define her signature sound and global success.

Beyond his work with Carey, Afanasieff has collaborated with an extraordinary range of artists, including Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand, Ricky Martin, Aretha Franklin, and Michael Bolton. He is also a highly respected film and television composer, contributing music to major Disney projects such as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Hercules, blending pop sensibility with cinematic orchestration.

Known for his melodic instincts, lush arrangements, and emotional storytelling, Afanasieff has earned multiple Grammy Awards and remains one of the most influential producers and songwriters in modern pop and film music history.
