As one of the most well-known and respected rights administration and licensing experts in the industry, Mary Jo Mennella is the owner and CEO of Music Asset Management, Inc. (MAM), a leading independent music publishing consulting company that she founded in 2006.
With expansive worldwide relationships and broad experience, Mary Jo consults for a multitude of rights owners and creators, including world-renowned songwriters and composers, film and TV studios, music publishers, and other media companies. For decades, she has been a successful and passionate entrepreneur dedicated to creators and rights management, helping top tier companies navigate and thrive throughout the evolution of distribution platforms in all media. These include, but are not limited to, the Pulse Music Group, Format Entertainment, Bill Silva Management, and Bob Doyle & Associates, representing many of the biggest chart-topping songs of all time such as “Despacito,” "Fancy Like,” "A Thousand Years," and “Route 66.”
In 2023, she formed a strategic partnership with Toronto-based publisher Red Brick Songs, for which she is an advisor. Prior to launching MAM, Mary Jo was SVP and General Manager of Music Publishing at Fox Filmed Entertainment, where for over 15 years she oversaw the publishing and master recording catalogs for 20th Century Fox (Titanic), Fox Broadcasting (The SIMPSONS), and affiliated production units. Before joining Fox, she was a key executive at Saban Entertainment, and at ASCAP, where she began her career in the entertainment business.
Mary Jo is proud to serve as an officer on the Board of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and serves as its Chair of its West Coast Events committee. She sits on the Board of the Independent Music Publishers Forum (IMPF). Among her many philanthropic efforts and industry affiliations, she is also a Past Chair of the Music & Entertainment Industry for City of Hope, and a Past President of the AIMP.
