Bio

Kenny Loggins has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, earned two GRAMMY Awards, and left his unmistakable mark on what many call “the soundtrack of our lives.” Over the last five decades, his chart-topping songs—including “This Is It,” “I’m Alright,” “Footloose,” and “Danger Zone” - have defined entire eras of popular music. In 2025, his iconic hit “Footloose” surpassed one billion streams on Spotify, a milestone that underscores his enduring influence across generations.

In addition to his solo career and early success as one half of the iconic duo Loggins & Messina, Loggins became the first major rock star to dedicate himself to music for children and families. His 1994 album Return to Pooh Corner remains one of the best-selling children’s albums of all time, cementing his reputation as a multi-generational artist. His later children’s project, the book Footloose (2016), reimagined his Oscar-nominated and GRAMMY Award-winning hit for a new audience.

A passionate advocate for the environment, his song “Conviction of the Heart” was hailed by Al Gore as the “unofficial anthem of the environmental movement” after Loggins performed it on the National Mall for Earth Day 1995. His humanitarian spirit has earned him numerous accolades, including the ASCAP Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award and the Guild of Music Supervisors’ first-ever Icon Award. He has also been deeply involved with organizations such as Toys for Tots, Unity Shoppe, Make-A-Wish, Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation, and Little Kids Rock, where he was named Humanitarian of the Year. In 2018, he helped reopen the Notes for Notes Studios at the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara, giving thousands of kids free access to music education and recording opportunities.

Loggins continues to reinvent himself and reach new audiences. In 2021, he released At the Movies, a Record Store Day exclusive compiling his beloved film soundtrack classics, and contributed “The Great Adventure” to San Diego Zoo Kids’ television network. His enduring hit “Danger Zone” returned to the spotlight in Top Gun: Maverick (2022), helping propel the film to over $1.5 billion in global box office revenue and introducing his music to a new generation.

In June 2022, Loggins published his candid memoir Still Alright (Hachette Books), offering a revealing look at his storied career and personal journey. He followed with his sold-out This Is It farewell tour throughout 2023, closing his final concert in his hometown of Santa Barbara at the legendary Santa Barbara Bowl.

Even in retirement from touring, Loggins remains a vital force in music and culture. In the summer of 2025, he delivered a standout performance at the Newport Folk Festival - 50 years after Bob Dylan’s prophetic electric set at the same site - widely hailed as one of those rare “you-had-to-be-there” moments in live entertainment. The day before, he joined NewportFILM Outdoors for a conversation and preview screening of Conviction of the Heart, a new documentary directed by Tony- and Emmy-winning filmmaker Dori Bernstein. Featuring archival footage and interviews with Loggins, his children, and luminaries like Clive Davis, Jimmy Messina, David Foster, and Kevin Bacon, the film explores his creative process, challenges, and continual reinvention. Conviction of the Heart will be released in 2026.

In December 2024, Loggins was honored with the John Lennon Real Love Award at the 44th Annual John Lennon Tribute in New York City, where he performed a special set of his favorite Lennon and Beatles classics in support of Theatre Within.

Loggins’ influence continues to resonate far beyond the stage. This year, he will be inducted into the People’s Music Hall of Fame at the Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City as part of the organization’s annual ceremony, and will also be celebrated at the Power of Love Gala in Las Vegas, where his humanitarian work and musical legacy will be recognized among peers and friends.

Whether on stage, on screen, or through his philanthropy, Kenny Loggins has proven to be an artist of enduring relevance, whose music continues to inspire, heal, and connect across generations.
