The Songwriters Hall of Fame is proud to announce that a SHOF/Belmont University Songwriting Scholarship will now be included in its scholarship program. The scholarships are presented prior to the SHOF’s 2023 Induction & Awards Gala being held in New York City on June 15th.
The new scholarship is awarded to Belmont University Songwriting majors who possess tangible exceptional songwriting potential and the intangible qualities of bringing out the best of their collaborators and contributing to the larger community of songwriters. Recipients are selected by the faculty of the Belmont Songwriting Department. The SHOF congratulates Lauryn Marie Hedges and Zander Jett on being the recipients of the inaugural scholarships.
Belmont University - located in Nashville Tennessee - has a longstanding songwriting major, where students can study commercial songwriting in the heart of Music City, with faculty who have won every major industry award from Grammys to CMA, ACM, Dove, Emmys and more. Studying songwriting at Belmont offers an incredible collaboration between Songwriting, Audio Engineering and Motion Pictures majors for the production of music videos, giving students an incredible arsenal of skills for their future songwriting endeavors.
In addition to the newfound scholarship, Songwriters Hall of Fame and Belmont University have joined forces to bring songwriting to a wider audience. In partnering together, Belmont University has started hosting Master Sessions on campus, with the most recent event bringing 2008 inductee Desmond Child to speak with students. Master Sessions focus on the art and craft of songwriting, and each Session features one major figure from the music industry, many of whom are SHOF inductees.
