New York, NY – March 24, 2014 – Songwriters Hall of Fame Chairman Jimmy Webb and Universal Music Publishing Group President, North America Evan Lamberg have announced The Songwriters Hall of Fame’s inaugural professional Song Competition “by songwriters, for songwriters,”  offering its SHOF members a discount opportunity for their online song submissions. The Competition, presented by the SHOF and Universal Music Publishing Group, along with exclusive contest partners Sonicbids and Epiphone, will offer each dues-current member, or those who join the Songwriters Hall of Fame during the term of The Competition, a $10 discount on each song submitted to the competition.

Entries will be screened by a listening committee who will select the finalists. Songwriters will be evaluated by a panel of industry professionals including legendary songwriters, producers and publishers. Songs will be judged based on melody, composition, originality and lyrics.

The overall Grand Prize winner will be given the opportunity to enter into an exclusive Universal Music Publishing Group contract, will receive an Epiphone Masterbilt DR-500MCE guitar, two tickets to the 2015 Songwriters Hall of Fame Annual Induction and Awards Gala, and recognition from the stage.

All prize winners will be featured in an article in the 2015 Gala Dinner Journal, circulated to the music industry’s creative and business elite, and have their music and bio profiled on a page of the songhall.org website, visited by thousands of industry professionals each month.
