First “Meet The Songwriters” Featuring Julie Gold Captivates!

The first in the series of Songwriters Hall of Fame “Meet The Songwriters” seminars took place Thursday, October 18th in front of an audience captivated by Julie Gold. She shared the story of her continuing career, from it’s humble beginnings, to her walk down the red carpet to accept her Grammy for 1991 Song of the Year. In touching and often humorous detail, she recounted years of working as a cocktail lounge pianist and secretary at HBO, at which time Bette Midler’s cover of her classic “From A Distance” finally allowed her the freedom to pursue songwriting full time. It was a truly inspirational evening and everyone left feeling excited and hopeful about their own creative process.
