SHOF inductee Don Schlitz presented a Songwriter’s Hall of Fame Master Class at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on October 25th and worked with the students in a new songwriting class offered by the Music Department, taught by Professor Jocelyn Neal

The students were thrilled with the opportunity to be part of a masterclass with Schlitz, who was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2017 and whose song “The Gambler” was added to the Library of Congress’s National Recording Registry this year. UNC Chapel Hill offers a minor in songwriting through the Creative Writing program, with courses available in both the Department of Music and Creative Writing.

This was the second masterclass at UNC that Schlitz, who is also a member of the SHOF Board of Directors, participated in, and plans are in the works to continue his visits in the future.
