Brooks & Dunn, Carrie Underwood Win Big at 40th Annual CMA Awards

Big wins for powerhouse pair Brooks & Dunn, explosive newcomer Carrie Underwood, fan and critical favorite Keith Urban, and multiplatinum-selling Rascal Flatts dominated the 40th Annual Country Music Association Awards, held Nov. 6 in Nashville. The ceremony, which took place downtown at Gaylord Entertainment Center, featured a slew of live performances and plenty of extra room for the fans, who cheered for their favorites throughout the evening. SHOF Inductee Dolly Parton also earned recognition in the Musical Event of the Year category for her contribution to the poignant hit “When I Get Where I’m Going.” Kris Kristofferson, another SHOF Inductee, and honored in 2006 with our illustrious Johnny Mercer Award, presided over Country Music Hall of Fame inductions of Harold Bradley and Sonny James.
