On Wednesday, June 8th, a group of prominent African-American music directors gathered at the California African American Museum in Los Angeles for Shaping The Sound of Television: The Black Music Directors. ASCAP members Michael Bearden, Greg Phillinganes, Harold Wheeler, Big Jim Wright and Patrice Rushen were among the panelists. They shared real stories about working with producers, directors and huge stars, dealing with adversity, breaking barriers, opening doors, being leaders and maintaining integrity and trust within the TV world. Each panelist had an amazing story to share, and the hundreds of audience members left inspired and edified.
