Workshop Goal: To strengthen the songwriting skill set and bring the emerging writer closer to the music industry through workshop sessions with hit songwriters and industry professionals in publishing, music licensing and A&R.

Each participant will have been selected for this workshop on the basis of two songs submitted. These songs will be played and evaluated by the workshop in preparation for our guests who will listen and review. Along the way all will gain the insights of the songwriters and industry professionals. There will be a Q&A period with each guest. Participants will be expected to begin working on a new song that will be shared with the workshop in its development to be completed and performed during our 8th session. These songs may be co-written and workshop participants collaborating together is encouraged.

Industry Guests will be announced in advance of the first session.

Peter Bliss - SongHall Activities Coordinator / Songwriter (Barbra Streisand, NYSNC, Jennifer Love Hewitt) will guide the workshop.

PRE-REGISTRATION: Please attach and email two (2) of your original song mp3s with accompanying lyric sheets to Peter Bliss at: [email protected].  Songs may have been co-written. They will be reviewed by the SongHall and you will be contacted regarding your acceptance into this workshop. The level of production is not as important a factor as the song itself though the recording quality should be clear with a vocal and lyric that is well presented. These songs will be played in the workshop for our guests.

FEE: $300.00 Only after you have received confirmation from the SongHall that you have been accepted into the workshop - Class size is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

THIS WORKSHOP IS OPEN TO ALL!

This one-day workshop takes a strategic approach to building your songwriting business. It will focus on understanding your market and developing your brand, turning your songs into hits, and selling those hits to the people that need them. There will be interaction as the workshop listens to songs brought into the group for review. The morning will be devoted to “Understanding Your Market;” helping to develop individual business strategies. The afternoon will continue with “Making The Hits” and then finish with “Selling the Hits”.  Songs by workshop attendees will be reviewed and all are encouraged to either bring their song recordings on an iPod or a CD. There will be a piano in the studio but we ask that you bring your own guitar if that is your instrument! Of course you are welcome to just listen and learn!
