Hal David Holds SHOF Master Class at the Abe Olman Scholarship & CD Release Party

Hal David, Chairman of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and lyricist extraordinaire, held his first Songwriters Hall of Fame Master Class at the Abe Olman Scholarship & CD Release Party at the Cutting Room in New York. David, who gave the world such classics as “Alfie,” “What The World Needs Now Is Love,” “Walk On By” and “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head,” answered questions posed by 20 of America’s most promising young songwriters.

The songwriters included the five Abe Olman designees along with the 12 aspiring songwriters featured on the CD Compilation entitled The Best of the Songwriters Hall of Fame New Writers Showcase: Volume 4. The Abe Olman Scholarship for Excellence in Songwriting is given annually by the Songwriters Hall of Fame to honor five young composers and lyricists. Winners receive a plaque and a check for $1,200.
