Mary Jo Mennella
Mary Jo Mennella founded Music Asset Management, Inc. (MAM), an independent music publishing and consulting company, in 2006 and is based in Studio City, California. The firm specializes in music for film and television and provides personal attention to songwriters, composers and media companies. One of MAM’s key objectives as a full service publishing company is to maximize each writer and publisher’s income stream with an emphasis on domestic and international copyright & royalty administration.
MAM’s songwriter & composer roster includes Harry Shearer, Tena Clark, Judith Owen, Kevin Teasley, Shawn Clement, leading commercial music producers Joel Simon/JSM Music, RAI Trade S.p.A, Loving Guitar Music (“Feelings”) and Hunnypot Music who have signed with MAM for worldwide publishing representation.
MAM’s consulting clients include Evolution Music Partners (EMP), a successful Beverly Hills talent agency representing film and television composers and hit songwriters. EMP’s diverse roster includes award-winning composers Russ Landau (SURVIVOR, FEAR FACTOR), Charlie Clouser (SAW I through SAW VI) and Alex Heffes (LAST KING OF SCOTLAND). In addition, MAM consults for the MusiCares Foundation and the OSI Music and Distortion Music production libraries, among others.
Before forming Music Asset Management, Mary Jo was the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Music Publishing at Fox Filmed Entertainment and was charged with overseeing the publishing and master recording catalogs for 20th Century Fox, Fox Broadcasting and affiliated production units including their sports, news and cable units.
Prior to her years at Fox, Mary Jo was a key executive at Saban Entertainment and at ASCAP where she began her career in the entertainment business.
Mary Jo serves on the Board of Directors for the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation and the City of Hope Music & Entertainment Industry group. Mennella is a past president of the Association of Independent Music Publishers and was the recipient of the Women in Music Touchstone Award in 2000 for her contributions to the music industry.
